The Law of the Gun

Basic Pistol Shooting

This class covers gun laws in the state of Alabama. Topics include:

  • Common law self defense
  • Use of force in self defense of a person
  • Use of force in self defense of property
  • Castle doctrine
  • Practical tactics for home defense
  • Discharging firearms around buildings and public roadways
  • Use of a firearm in self defense of domesticated animals (dogs, cats, etc.)
  • Concealed carry
  • Open carry
  • License reciprocity
Fee: $100

Basic pistol shooting is an essential class where you will learn proper gun control and management for single action revolvers, double action revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, firearms storage, fundamentals of shooting a pistol, proper shooting stance, pistol maintenance and inspection.

 *Class fee does not include the cost of ammunition. Attendees are encouraged to bring at least 100 rounds of ammunition.

  • Role-Play Practice: Engage in 12 real-world scenarios such as trespassing, intoxicated patrons, heated arguments, customer disputes, event security, and more.
  • De-Escalation Framework: Apply a clear, step-by-step model in the field.
  • Safe Boundaries: Recognize when to disengage and call for backup.

  • Length: 4-hour in-person group training
  • Group Size: 10-20 participants
  • Format: Practical instruction, demonstrations, role-plays, group discussion
